The problem
The text hits the phone. The lesson never did.

Most parents were never taught this either. You can spot a bad deal at a store and still freeze when a message sounds official and impatient. That is the point of the message.

The Federal Trade Commission’s Consumer Sentinel Network Data Book 2024 shows people aged 19 and under filed 30,330 fraud reports — 3% of reports where age was provided. That figure is 19 and under, not a count of elementary classrooms. It is still a stack of real reports.
